The River Walk
There are so many romantic and intimate locations along the fringes of the San Antonio River Walk. These spots are low traffic and avoid the hectic nature of the main sections. The San Antonio Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden is a picturesque location with so many options for a proposal. Here are some great spots within the garden to consider. “Overlook” is a great spot that allows for a fantastic view of the San Antonio skyline. “East Texas Piney Woods” has a much different vibe and atmosphere that might be perfect if you are wanting a more rustic scene. “Kumamoto Japanese Garden” is also a very scenic spot that is intimate and beautiful. The “Fern Grotto” or “Palm and Cycad Pavilion” are iconic spots that are sure to make an impression. If you are planning for a proposal at the Botanical Garden definitely do your scouting and make sure your spot is perfect.
The San Antonio Japanese Tea Garden
The Japanese Tea Garden is has long been a favorite for proposals and engagement shoots. The location is beautiful, and while it can be rather busy it also has many spots so that you can tailor your plans to be perfect.
The Blue Star Arts Complex
The Arts Complex offers a very different vibe and look compared to many other locations on the list. The advantage here is that the beauty of the River Walk extension melds perfectly with a more urban setting. If you are looking to make your proposal an extended outing the Blue Start Arts Complex has plenty for the two of you to enjoy, and the setting for a wonderful proposal.
Hot Wells Hotel Ruins
Hot Wells is definitely one those locations that many might not consider. Although with a rich history and being renovated recently it is quickly turning into an interesting destination. The old bath ruins make for a distinct setting and this spot might speak to those with a more eclectic mindset.
San Fernando Cathedral
If you want to mix old world architecture with the vibe of downtown San Antonio, then San Fernando Cathedral is a magnificent spot. With the cathedral in the background, a proposal here is memorable and striking. Be prepared for tourists and sometimes crowds depending on the time of day and season of the year.
Overlook Park (Canyon Lake)
Having done a number of engagement sessions at Overlook Park, we can tell you that this is one of the premier locations for sunset views. If you are planning an early evening proposal incorporating the sunset Overlook Park is a wonderful choice. Be aware that often the park is cleared out by law enforcement right around sunset since the park closes at that time. The hour leading up to this is one of the most beautiful in the San Antonio area.
Boat Tour
Both the downtown River Walk and Canyon Lake make a great spot for your proposal. Consider a “Go Rio San Antonio River Cruise” for a unique and special proposal moment along the River Walk. If you would rather incorporate the sunset with a tour on the water, then look for an evening boat tour on Canyon Lake.
