We photograph every wedding in color. Black and white is not a filter we apply across the board. It is a decision we make afterward, one photograph at a time, based on what the moment actually calls for. Most galleries land around 90 percent color and 10 percent black and white, and we explain the full thinking behind that split in the posts linked below.
Some parts of a day are about color: the florals, golden hour, a reception space designed down to the last detail. Other parts are about something quieter, and those are usually the ones that end up in black and white.

At La Cantera Resort, where the ceremony overlooked the Hill Country from El Fortin, one of the strongest images in the gallery only became itself in black and white. The hills gained depth, the clouds gained texture, and a beautiful landscape became part of the story instead of a backdrop to it.
At San Fernando Cathedral, a quiet exchange between Norma and Jonathan during the wedding mass, missed by nearly everyone else in the room, became one of the most talked-about images from their day once it was converted.
At Woodbine Mansion, a photo of Kailynn quietly writing her vows while the rest of the bridal party buzzed around her turned into one of those images a couple keeps coming back to.
And Alexis and John, married at Spinelli's Wedding Venue in Comfort, TX, told us the same thing about their gallery: the black and white images were the ones that felt timeless the moment they saw them.
Do you shoot black and white during the wedding, or is it added later? Every photo is captured in color. Black and white is a selection made afterward, image by image, based on what best serves the moment.
Will my whole gallery be black and white? No. Most galleries land around 90 percent color and 10 percent black and white. We choose per photo, not by a set formula.
Can I request more black and white images, or none at all? Yes. If you have a strong preference either way, tell us during planning and we will factor it into how we edit your gallery.
Why do some wedding photos work better in black and white? Moments built on emotion rather than setting, a quiet exchange, an unguarded expression, often read more clearly without color pulling attention toward the background.
