We've now photographed two very different celebrations on this property, one a full evening celebration with sunset vows and golden hour portraits, the other a smaller gathering built around an outdoor dinner and quiet sunset light. Both days looked nothing alike. Both were unmistakably La Cantera.

Getting Ready on the Property
The resort's suites are spacious without feeling excessive, with neutral tones and natural light that does most of the work for us before we even pick up a camera. Floor-to-ceiling windows mean details like a dress hanging in the corner or a father adjusting cufflinks catch soft, even light without any setup on our end.
We've photographed this part of the day two ways: a full bridal party settling in with champagne and conversation, and a much smaller circle keeping the morning quiet and unhurried. Both work. The rooms don't ask you to fill them with people to feel right.

Two Ways We've Seen It Done
A full celebration. Haley and John built their day around a sunset ceremony and an evening of blending two families, readings and small touches from both sides woven into the vows. Golden hour portraits followed, unhurried and unposed, the kind where a bride leans her head on her partner's shoulder because the moment called for it, not because we asked.
A small, intentional gathering. Liz and Josh kept their day deliberately short, a brief getting-ready period followed by an outdoor dinner and sunset portraits. Nothing about the day felt rushed, and nothing about the venue felt like it was built only for large weddings. The resort scaled down as easily as it scales up.

Use the range of the property. Courtyard, lawns, and terraces each photograph differently, and moving between them during portraits gives you more variety than staying in one spot.
Consider a first look if you want a private moment before the day gets full. The courtyard is built for exactly this.
Don't over-decorate. The Hill Country views carry more weight than anything you could add to a table.
