Sarah and Jared's Wedding at The Lodge at Country Inn Cottages

Fredericksburg has a way of bringing a wonderful charm and atmosphere to a wedding day, rolling Hill Country land, a chapel that feels like it belongs to the property rather than built for a day, and room enough for a celebration to stretch out well into the night. Sarah and Jared chose The Lodge at Country Inn Cottages for their wedding, and the venue gave their day exactly that kind of space.

Sarah and Jared found us through Winter and Josh, whose wedding at Hollow Creek Ranch in St. Hedwig we photographed back in 2024. Winter is Jared's cousin, and Sarah and Jared had been there to celebrate with them that day, just as Winter and Josh were now here to celebrate Sarah and Jared.

Getting Ready

The morning started the way most wedding days do, separate spaces, separate energy, both sides of the day building toward the same afternoon. Details came together around them, the kind of small things easy to overlook in the moment but worth having later: the dress, the rings, the little markers of a day that had been planned for months finally arriving.

The Ceremony

Sarah and Jared exchanged vows in The Lodge's chapel, a space built into the property's Hill Country setting rather than separate from it. There is a stillness to a ceremony in a room like this, light coming through in a way that makes the moment feel set apart from everything leading up to it.

Cocktail Hour with the Beer Burros

Cocktail hour brought something we do not see often: beer burros working the crowd, 2Burrachos bringing a genuinely unique touch to the reception that had guests laughing and taking notice right away. It set a loose, celebratory tone heading into the reception, the kind of detail that guests remember and talk about well after the day is over.

Reception Details and First Dance

Inside, the reception space carried its own character, details set with care and a room ready for a party. Sarah and Jared's first dance opened the evening, a quiet moment before the night picked up energy, followed by the cutting of the cake and the toasts that come with it.

Sunset Portraits

As the light began to change, we pulled Sarah and Jared away from the reception for a short stretch of portraits in the day's last light. The Hill Country backdrop around The Lodge gave us a wide-open setting for it, the kind of golden hour that does most of the work on its own.

Dances with Mom and Dad

Back inside, the room shifted into its quieter moments, dances with mom and dad carrying the kind of weight that is hard to put into words. These are often the moments that mean the most once the day has passed, and we made sure to be close for them.

The Dance Floor

From there, the night opened up. The bouquet toss brought its usual mix of nerves and laughter, and the dance floor filled and stayed full, DJ Sean Hunt of Turntables Over Texas keeping the energy high well into the evening. Nights like this are our favorite to photograph, the unscripted ones, full of movement and real reactions.

The Exit

Sarah and Jared closed out the night with a bubble exit, guests lined up on either side as the two of them made their way out together, a fitting end to a day that moved through nearly every emotion a wedding can hold.

A Familiar Crowd

Photographing a wedding usually means meeting a new family for the first time. This one was different. With Winter and Josh in attendance, along with a number of their family members, there were plenty of familiar faces in the crowd, people we remembered from Hollow Creek Ranch two years earlier. There is something particular about photographing a second wedding within the same extended family. The rhythm of the day feels a little less unfamiliar, and the connections across the room carry a bit more history with them. It made for a day that felt, in its own way, like a continuation of one we had already been part of.
